Dr.Bujak maintains an active interest in international development and the provision of eye care to the developing world. To date he has worked with the Himalayan Cataract project, ORBIS, USAID, Vision 20/20, Sight Life, University of Toronto International program and the World Health Organization to provide eye care in 10 countries worldwide including developing residency programs, training courses and writing textbook chapters.
2018
Worked with University of Toronto and Himalayan Cataract Project to implement high volume cataract outreach program in Adigrat Ethiopia. Completed 482 cataract surgeries. Worked with corneal transplant surgeons in Mekele Ethiopia to further develop their surgical skills.

Invited to be guest lecturer at National meeting of Jamaican Society of Ophthalmology (JSO) –topics included ocular surface disease and herpetic eye disease.

Returned to Uganda for a 2nd corneal transplant mission (16 corneal transplants) and outreach cataract camp. Completed first DSAEK transplants in Uganda. Cataract focus was training resident surgeons from Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, and Somalia.

Through Orbis and Sightlife Eyebank taught first ever DSAEK course in Nepal to cornea surgeons country wide.

Acted as head ophthalmologist for St.Michael’s Urban Angels cataract mission to the Philippines in both 2015 and 2016.

Worked with “Eye Van” program to provide ophthalmology care to remote areas of Ontario Canada.

Organized and implemented largest corneal transplant mission to date in Uganda in collaboration with Makerere University. Completed outreach cataract mission in remote region of Northern Uganda.

Organized and implemented corneal transplant mission in Kumasi Ghana (24 corneal transplants) and outreach small incision cataract camp in rural Kete Krachi, Ghana.

Organized and implemented corneal transplant mission at Kenyatta hospital in Nairobi, Kenya and manual small incision cataract surgery outreach camp in rural Kenya. Instructed residents and taught phacoemulsification surgery.

Worked as cornea staff at Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in Kathmandu Nepal. Involved in resident training, providing small incision cataract surgery and corneal transplantation for Nepal and Northern India through the central hospital. Also worked at peripheral hospitals and outreach surgical camps.

Volunteered as a cataract surgeon in the ophthalmology surgical mission to Bacolod Philippines.
2007/2008
Completed ophthalmology elective at Srikiran Eye Institute, a charitable hospital in rural India.
Participated in manual small incision cataract surgery and outreach cataract camps.
