Dr. Matthew C. Bujak MD PT FRCS(C) DABO
Dr. Matthew Bujak is an ophthalmologist based in Surrey, BC, sub specializing in corneal and cataract surgery. He completed his medical school at University of Toronto where he was recognized with the Sopman Humanitarian Award for patient care. He has completed two corneal fellowships at renowned ophthalmology programs in the United States, University of Southern California/Doheny Eye Institute and University of Utah/Moran Eye Center.
Before moving to British Columbia, Dr. Bujak practiced for 9 years at University of Toronto in an academic setting where he continues to hold the position of Assistant Professor. He provides cataract surgery with a particular interest in challenging complex cataracts typically seen in developing world and underserviced populations.
As a corneal specialist he performs anterior segment reconstruction surgeries and all forms of corneal transplant surgeries including DMEK, DSAEK, DALK and penetrating keratoplasty. He also provides ocular surface surgeries and laser treatments for eye cancers, pterygiums, and keratoconus.
Dr.Bujak maintains an active interest in international development and the provision of eye care to the developing world. To date he has worked with the Himalayan Cataract project, ORBIS, USAID, Vision 20/20, Sight Life, University of Toronto International program and the World Health Organization to provide eye care in 10 countries worldwide including developing residency programs, training courses and writing textbook chapters.
